What is LiFePO4 Prismatic Battery?

Li-IP, LFP (lithium ferro-phosphate), or LiFePO4 battery, is the abbreviation of lithium iron phosphate battery, a type of lithium-ion battery using lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material, and a graphitic carbon electrode with a metallic backing as the anode. On such a basis, the LiFePO4 prismatic battery can be manufactured in a design where an insulating sheet is laid down, then a thin layer of anode material is laid down, a separator layer is applied, and a cathode material is layered on top, resembling a Swiss roll, thus gaining its name Swiss roll or jelly roll. Such a design allows higher power density and better performance.
