2019 ITS China Congress! EVE’s Innovation Powers Intelligent Transportation

From October 31st to November 2nd, the 14th ITS China Congress was held in Qingdao. It is an important professional industry activity with a large scale, wide scope and strong influence in the field of intelligent transportation in China. During the three-day conference, more than 3,000 representatives, experts and scholars from enterprises, scientific research institutions at home and abroad will conduct extensive exchanges and discussions on the theme of "intelligence leads the future and innovation drives development". Today, Professor Yuan Zhongzhi, vice president and CTO of EVE, was invited to attend the "Intelligent Transportation Industry Forum" and delivered a wonderful speech on "Before/after market: OBU battery’s reliability and test methods".


The upgrade of the national intelligent transportation network is inseparable from the layout of ETC. At present, the ETC aftermarket is gradually coming to an end, and it has begun to enter the pre-installation market.
Professor Yuan shared at the forum that whether ETC adopts the after-installation or pre-installation or future V2X, it needs a battery as a supporting power source. So how to choose a battery that meets the requirements of vehicle regulations? How to test the reliability and life of the battery? In the industry, methods such as high-temperature accelerated storage are generally used for testing and screening. However, at this conference, Professor Yuan put forward a plan that is more in line with the actual situation of vehicles-"Double 85 test".
"Double 85 test" is to store the battery for 1000h under the high temperature of 85 ° C and high humidity of 85% RH, and then check its functional reliability. This method is simple, fast, and can be used for large sample tests. It is a good way to quickly evaluate the reliability and life of the battery.

As of October 23rd, the total number of ETC users nationwide reached 151.267 million, EVE’s composite battery solutions serve a large of users. The actual service life of OBU powered by EVE’s batteries is more than 7 years. These actual use data have a good match with the "double 85 test" conclusion, which proves that this method is in line with the practical rapid test method. It provides a reference for battery selection methods in front-mounted ETC and next-generation V2X equipment.
